Reluctantly, 17-year-old Gretchen leaves her American home to live with her father, who has just moved into a resort in the German Alps with his new family. Cuckoo features surreal, bonkers body horror and a peculiar creature, making it a fun watch. But it is also a chilling commentary on female bodily autonomy, forced birth, and misogyny, and is very relevant to our current sociopolitical environment.
