Publisher Kodansha opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Masahito Soda and Kuro Tomiyama's Megumi no Daigo: Kyuukoku no Orange manga on Thursday and announced the main staff. The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2023.
Masahiko Murata (Fumetsu no Anata e, Baby Steps) is directing the anime at animation studio Brain's Base.
Soda serialized the original action drama manga series in 20 volumes on the Shounen Sunday magazine from August 1995 to June 1999.
The sequel manga, Megumi no Daigo: Kyuukoku no Orange, began serialization on the Monthly Shounen Magazine in October 2020. Kodansha shipped the sixth volume on December 15.
In 1996, Megumi no Daigo won the Shogakukan Manga Award in the shounen category, and in 1998, it won the Excellence Award in the manga category of the 2nd Japan Media Arts Festival. Both manga has a total cumulative 14 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

I just read that this is the sequel to a series called "Firefighter! Daigo of Fire Company M" or "Megumi no Daigo. It ran from 1995 to 1999. It's about a guy who became a firefighter after his life was saved by one. Two years ago, Kondansha picked up the sequel on which the anime will be based on.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
So it's about firefighting as I guessed, not exactly my cup of tea but good for fans of the manga/genre.
Anytime broski! Yeah, after watching Station 19 on Hulu, I got into firefighting shows lol so I am going to check this out.

Of course, you are right. That is why I wrote that they better adapt the prequel manga and only then the sequel. I hope that we can understand this series without the prequel.
I recommend you to read the manga or watch this series when it will start airing. It is better than isekai and idols works.
Thanks for your advice but I don't think I will not because it's bad or anything, it may be better than isekai and idol works objectively but subjectively I highly doubt I'll enjoy it.
Call it bias or judging the book by its cover yet my intuition is telling me I won't like it because it didn't piqued my interest right now.
Maybe after some more info revealed and I become curious, I'll give it a shot.
Don't worry, I undersrand you. Hope you will watch it later if it catches your interest of course.

it's 20 volume manga, that movie would barely scratch its surface. I assume even the j drama fire boys 2004 has adapted more than that movie

No adaptation of prequal? Disappointing!
I have not read the manga or the anime movie but i have watched the j drama. It was quite interesting. I wish original gets a adaptation someday.

I have never heard of this series before but I'm shocked to see its about regular firemen....The last thing related to this topic that I saw was a hentai lol
Maybe this is what Fire Force was inspired by then

Finally decent series gets an anime adaptation!!
Still I don't understand why they skip the prequel an start adapting the sequel. I know that prequel was already adapted into the movie, but nevertheless. It would be better to adapt the prequel into the TV series first and then adapt the sequel. Although as I understood, sequel is not so connected with the prequel.
